Color and Testing Coordinator duties include helping to develop new, improved, and existing products with internal and external testing and color evaluation.

Job Description

This position is important in developing new, improved, and existing products with internal and external testing and color evaluation.

Here’s what you can expect in the way of specific job responsibilities as well as time allocation estimates:

Color Evaluation (60%)

  • Frequently uses Spectrophotometer and light booth for color analysis
  • Analyzes and communicates comments for lab dip & bulk submits
  • Systematically enters color comments into the PLM system
  • Reviews color and fabric development with the Manager discussing shade adjustments, color strategy, colorfastness, and hand feel
  • Works closely with the Manager and Quality team to research customer returns
  • Collects and returns inventory for color comparison
  • Tactfully communicates with various internal departments regarding color updates as needed

Testing (20%)

  • Develops, maintains, and captures all relevant product and fabric data for active production
  • Systematically collects, organizes, prepares, and tests materials for conformance to specification
  • Accurately records and maintains records of all testing and analysis data
  • Plans work efficiently so that results are obtained in a timely fashion
  • Routinely works on multitasking projects that are substantially different, requiring the ability to shift gears and prioritize accordingly
  • Participates in lab problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Cleans, maintains and calibrates equipment as needed
  • Tactfully communicates with internal/external parties to keep them informed as needed regarding samples and testing
  • Collaboratively works with Quality team members to audit/test the incoming product to ensure performance and quality meet company standards
  • Methodically collects inventory for testing research

Record Keeping: (20%)

  • Maintains color approval books with updated approvals
  • Files color submits, both approvals and rejections
  • Tracks and maintains testing records performed
  • Maintains and updates all filing and tracking records
  • Handles shipping and tracking packages for development, testing, color, and industrial laundering

To be successful in this role, you need to have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A high school diploma or GED, preferably some college courses
  • Strong working knowledge of textile, apparel, and manufacturing, or demonstration of ability/aptitude to acquire the knowledge
  • Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented professional
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and deliver results with excellent follow-through
  • Proficient in knowledge of PC, including Microsoft Office. Experience with color management tools (hardware and software) a plus, or ability/aptitude for learning it
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to differentiate color shades
